Why ripping up my journal helped. Part 5 of helping others recover emotionally from COVID-19
Ripping up my journal helped me see the good things in my life. As I threw away the blank pages from a draft journal, I focused on the good that I have noticed over the last 8 weeks. I read about friends, places, people who stepped in to help at church and I felt grateful.
A warmth in my chest replaced my morning stress, and my mind was more focused and positive for the day.
As I have intentionally practised appreciation, I found a peace and joy that has enriched my relationships and improved the quality of my life.
I wrote a journal. As I did the exercises, a warmth in my belly and a lightness in my chest displaced stressful tightness. I learned to recall and relive happy memories from the past; to ask God for happy memories and to share stories to be more open about my life.
As a result, I became happier and helped our family, church and others grow in joy.
Practicing appreciation helps people to recover from the emotional effects of COVID-19 if done the right way and done regularly enough. We wrote a journal to give you the tools to thrive and grow in joy in the most difficult of times.
I finished the revised edition this week and if you could do with a boost, do look. It costs less than a coffee + cake and has fewer calories!
There are a couple of pages from the journal below.
