THE JOYFUL LIFE: HOW TO MAKE IT LAST Series 1 of 2.  5 May 23

The Big Picture:

As Christians we believe that we are created to be in joyful relationship with God and people. We believe that we have a natural and spiritual craving for connection and we thrive when we satisfy it.
What we have learned over recent years is that God has given us special brain circuits that help us bond with others. When these circuits function well, our spontaneous experience will be to feel close and connected to the people in our lives.

Why does this matter?

When the relational part of our brains is working well in our connection with God
and others, we experience joy and deeper bonds with God and people that last
and grow throughout our lives. We become more resilient, more intimate with
God, more enjoyable to our friends and families, and more aligned with our true
selves. We mature as Christians and bear the fruit of the spirit, become more
trustworthy, and spread joy and belonging around us.

In brief, this is how we do it:

To activate the relational part of our brains to work well in our connection with God and others, we

  1. Check if we are feeling connected and if not, we deliberately turn on the relational part of our brains. Then we
  2. Stay connected for longer by ,
  • nurturing our relationships with God and people
  • expanding our capacity using relational brain skills that are essential for optimal well-being in all areas of life.
  • troubleshooting what goes wrong and healing our hearts.
