Finding Peace: A video to help your friends sleep

Yesterday, someone asked Ruth what she would recommend for someone feeling nervous who could not sleep. Ruth recommended the "Trauma Prayer." This is because in one season of her life, Ruth was suffering from panic attacks. As she lay in bed, she would be fearful and upset. One tool we used was the Prayer for Healing Trauma, which you can download free from Jim and Pat Banks' website.


The Prayer for Healing Trauma is a 23 minute prayer with music in the background. Many people go to sleep listening to it. Mark Virkler recommends it as a morning devotional time. As he says, "As I have listened to it several times, I have felt the Holy spirit moving upon me. I lay my hands upon my heart during much of the prayer and feel my entire body shaking under the power of the Spirit."


Our thoughts on the trauma prayer are

  • Pray! Use it!
  • If it works short term but the problems come back, pray again.
  • If you try this three times then it's not just prayer and willpower that you need, you need something else.
  • The 'something else' the Banks recommend is the Life Model. This is the basis of the training on our site. We also recommended HeartSync. This is a prayer modality that is very safe and effective for those with trauma.
